You have probably noticed that I enjoy painting animals. When painting a landscape, I'm always looking to see if I can include animals in it somewhere. In "Abiquiu Sheep" I found...... sheep! Abiquiu is a small town in northern New Mexico (think Georgia O'Keeffe) and  is surrounded by wonderful geology and light.

"Abiquiu Sheep" is framed in a wooden frame with a linen liner, and is available from me for $395.

I painted this painting from an old black and white photograph. The image speaks to me on several levels. I am attracted to the exotic quality of a different culture, but I am also uncomfortable with a lifestyle that hides women. I wanted to portray what I saw as a strong woman despite the covering veil.
